- Log in to cPanel.
- Under the Files section, find and select “FTP Accounts”.
- Enter the required fields for Log In (User) and Password.
- If the domain isn’t preset and there is a Domain field, choose the domain where you wish to create the FTP account from the Domain drop down menu.
- In the Directory field, cPanel will preset an assumed directory based on the FTP username, but this is usually incorrect and will need to be updated. This field determines the level of access for user, so you will need to enter the overall directory you wish to allow access to. If you erase everything and type a single “/”, this will allow access to your entire home directory (anything outside of the public_html folder).
- Set the Quota for the FTP account. This is the maximum amount of bandwidth the FTP user may use. If you leave the quota as unlimited, the user will have the ability to use the total amount of bandwidth for the cPanel account.
- Click “Create FTP Account” and then the new account will appear in the FTP Accounts table.
